See rubric for how you will be graded

1.  Choose a partner if you like.
2.  With your partner, read through all the steps of the Car Quest.
3.  Begin filling in the worksheet "The Price Is Right?".

4.  Each of you will choose 2 different cars from the following list of web sites: 

Yahoo! Autos  (Go here if you know the type and make of the vehicle you are looking for.)

BeepBeep.com

Dorsch Ford (Go here if you want to browse through pictures of used cars.)

Classiccars.com

5.  After you have chosen two cars, go to the Yahoo! Auto Loan Calculator site click on loan payment and fill in the first 6 cells.
6.  Follow directions on "The Price Is Right?" worksheet using the Loan Calculator to compute monthly payments.

7.  If you found that the cars you have chosen are too expensive or not what you were looking for, repeat the process starting with step #3.
8.  Begin filling in the back of the worksheet "The Chosen One".
9.  After researching your four cars with your partner, choose one car that you will purchase by following the worksheet "The Chosen One".

What is expected in your PowerPoint

There are samples under the shared folder if you would like to view them.

There should be a minimum of 6 slides for an individual, and 8 slides for a pair.

  1. Cover Slide with a title and a subtitle.
  2. Introductory slide that tells the viewer about the project, its purpose, and what you learned.
  • Different types of loans and how they effect your decision.
  • Working with a budget.
  • Interest rates.
  • Making a decision on a car.
  • Taxes and down payments.
  • Makes, models, years, mileage, etc.
  1. Slide for each car 
  • Year - Make - Model
  • Miles on the car
  • Price
  • Why did you choose each car in the first place? Do not list positives if you do not know what they are (ex. aluminum alloy wheels if you do not know what that means or why it is a benefit, or it has a 350 engine if you do not know what that means or how it is a benefit.)
  • Try to list 4 positives for each car (mileage if low, cost, style (convertible), passenger room, gas mileage, features (leather interior, etc., 4-wheel drive, anti-lock brakes), engine size, towing capability, etc.
  1. Add a slide with a graph of the car choices.  (Compare prices, gas mileage, loan costs, savings comparison, or anything that can be compared using numbers.)
  2. Conclusion, or final car choice and why?
  • What advantages did your final car have over the others?
  • What payment plan did you go with and why?
  • How much money did you end up with in savings?

11.  Turn in worksheets "The Price Is Right?" and "The Chosen One".
