CESAs/Ameritech Homework Helpline

The CESAs/Ameritech Homework Helpline is now in its eighth year of operation?  The Helpline is available via a toll free number for k12 students all across the state (1-800-222-2912).  Our Wisconsin certified teachers provide additional help to students after school with completing their homework in all subject matters.  Our teachers do not know what assignments have been given, but will help students work through their homework problems to find solutions.  Over 114,950 calls from students from the state have been received over the last 8 years.  The internet page is also available to leave e-mail questions, find further research sites for state and national topics of the month, and find answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Middle School Homework Helper

B. J. Pinchbeck's Homework Helper
A kid and his dad have built a useful list of homework helping websites. Winner of 90+ awards, this site deserves them. It's very well organized and great for kids with great pictures and lots of links to places where they can get teh help they need.

Information Please Kids' Almanac
The publishers of "Information Please" have assembled a great website for kids, parents and teachers with a quick-search function that could serve as a primary research tool for class projects. Facts behind the News offers well-organized short overviews and background pieces to help students understand current events and put them in perspective. The Homework Center offers tips for frequently assigned topics.  There is also games pages where kids can play games to learn more about their favorite subjects, especially math.

Yahooligan!'s Homework Answers
This section includes "ask an expert," as well as resources in history, language arts, science, social studies, geography, reference, and math.  This is connected to many other great links for finding more answers.

Blue Web'n Curriculum Resources
Blue Web'n, sponsored by Pacific Bell, reviews and reports on 100s of education sites. You can search this very well-indexed site for just the stuff you're looking for.  It has tutorials, lessons, activities, and projects along with resource pages, hotlists, and reference tools.

Kid Info
A well-organized homework and teacher resource site, recommended by the American Library Association. Kid Info sorts its resources by curriculum topics, making it much easier to use. You can also link to its sister site, Teacher Tidbytes, which includes student/teacher tutorials and slide shows, and web-integrated lesson plans. Nice job -- and no ads!

The Middle School Cybrary
A large homework and teacher resource developed with the middle grades in mind. The webmaster keeps a close watch out for bad URLs and features links about a current topic on the home page. Links are divided into categories and have brief descriptors. Sample the math page.

The Research Paper
This site offers "topics, ideas, and assistance for school related research projects," including an "idea directory" broken down into different subjects. There's also help for students (and teachers) who'd like a refresher course in term-paper writing. "The Writing Center" has lots of tips.

Homework Central
This site claims to be "the biggest study site on the Internet, linking everything that's fit to learn." The first statement might be true, but the second couldn't possibly be! Even so, this is a well-maintained site with many subject-area and research topic links for students. Detailed categories lead to very specific collections, e.g. Korean War. Also includes parent page and teacher resources.

Ask Dr. Math (Middle School)
An excellent resource with the answers to many middle schoolers' questions about math assignments. If you don't find your answer here, ask Dr. Math!

Study WEB
This is the Mother of All Homework Helpers, "created to provide fast and easy access to a wide variety of research-quality information via the Internet." Information is categorized according to the approximate grade level the site is geared for and include a visual content rating. "This rating indicates the presence of downloadable or printable images which may be useful in the visual aid portion of a school report. " A site for students and adults, it requires more navigation than some.
