Using this checklist to help you make sure you’ve covered all the important points of a chapter. Check off each item after you have completed it. First, be sure to make copies of the blank Text Book Study Checklist to keep with your homework supplies

 TEXT BOOK STUDY CHECKLIST

Textbook:

Chapter: 

 Survey the chapter

o       Look over all major headings and subheadings.

o       Note all pictures, maps, charts, tables, groups, etc.

o       Read the summary at the end of the chapter.

o       Read the study questions listed at the end of the chapter.

Make questions of major headings

o       Go through the chapter and reward all main headings into study questions to be answered.

Read the chapter and take notes

o       Answer all the questions you made from the main headings.

o       Take notes on a separate sheet of paper.

o       List important events, concepts or facts in order.

o       Make 3” x 5” index cards of important terms, people and events.

Review the chapter

o       Make sure you understand all the main points and how they relate to one another.

o       Answer all the study questions at the end of the chapter.

o       Review notes to make sure all key points have been covered.
